Dead Tree Removals in Oxford, MD

When a homeowner in Oxford, MD finished building a new house on their property, the heavy equipment used during construction compacted the soil around nearby trees. That compaction caused many trees to decline and eventually die. Collins Tree Experts was called in to perform tree removal for the dead and dying trees surrounding the property.

Because the property had pristine grass and beds, protecting the ground was a top priority during the tree removal process.

To protect the lawn and garden areas, we used heavy mats under work zones and leading to each tree. These mats distribute the weight of equipment and crews so the turf and beds are not crushed during removal. Using mats allowed us to get close to the trees safely while keeping the homeowner's landscaping intact.

We scheduled the removals for winter for a couple of practical reasons. In the colder months the ground tends to be drier and often frozen, which reduces damage from heavy machines. Winter scheduling also meant less disturbance to the lawn and roots that remained, and it helped keep the site cleaner while we worked.

Several of the trees were too large to remove with standard rigging, so we brought in a crane for those particular removals. The crane allowed us to take down large trunks and limbs in controlled sections, lowering heavy pieces directly onto protected areas. Using a crane reduced the need for cutting larger swaths through the property and sped up the work in tight spaces near the house or buildings.

A significant amount of the oak wood from the larger trees was not wasted. Much of that oak was given to an artisan who mills the wood himself for other projects. That meant the material will be milled and reused, going on to good use rather than being discarded.

Collins Tree Experts completed the tree removal project in Oxford, MD with attention to safety and to preserving the homeowner's landscape. By matting the site, working in winter conditions, and using a crane where needed, we removed hazardous trees while keeping damage to a minimum. The reuse of the large oak wood was an added benefit for the property owner and the local craftsman.
