Hazardous Tree Removal by Power Lines in Ridgely, MD

When tree branches are located within 10 feet of power lines, the utility company must disconnect power to the vicinity to allow tree service companies to carry out their work. This was recently the situation for a hazardous tree removal in Ridgely, MD. An Elm tree had posed a risk to our client's property, and they requested its removal as soon as possible. Due to recent updates in the electric company's policies, we had to wait for a scheduled date to have the power line de-energized, enabling us to safely operate around the power lines to remove the tree. Previously, electric companies would trim trees back to a safe distance, allowing the tree service to continue the removal afterward. However, this practice is no longer applicable in our area. Utilizing a bucket truck, we carefully navigated the area and successfully completed the tree removal. Our owners, Rob and Michael, are both certified in Electric Hazard Awareness (EHAP), but Maryland law prohibits any work on trees within 10 feet of high voltage lines.
